Job Description

The AI Engineer – Generative AI and Automation role with MEX Digital is a UAE-based software engineering opportunity focused on building, improving and maintaining digital products connected to Generative AI agents and automation engineering. The position is based in Dubai and will normally report to an engineering manager, technical lead, product engineering manager or platform leadership team depending on the structure of the employer. The successful candidate will work with developers, product managers, designers, QA engineers, data specialists, DevOps teams and business stakeholders to convert requirements into reliable software. Daily work includes writing code, reviewing technical requirements, participating in design discussions, testing features, fixing bugs, supporting deployments and improving system performance. The role requires attention to maintainability, security, scalability and user experience, especially in a UAE market where digital products must support fast growth and high customer expectations. Candidates should be comfortable with agile delivery, version control, documentation, code review and communication across teams. The main objective is to deliver dependable software that supports business goals, improves platform quality and helps MEX Digital continue building competitive technology products in the region.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain software features according to product and technical requirements
Write clean, reliable and maintainable code using approved engineering standards
Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers and other developers
Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing and performance improvement activities
Support system design discussions and technical documentation
Troubleshoot production issues and propose practical corrective actions
Maintain awareness of security, scalability and availability requirements
Contribute to sprint planning, estimation and delivery commitments
Use version control, CI/CD pipelines and development tools correctly
Communicate progress, risks and blockers clearly to engineering leadership
Build prototypes, experiments and production-ready AI or automation capabilities
Collaborate with researchers or domain experts to convert ideas into working software

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field preferred
Relevant software engineering experience matching the seniority of the role
Strong programming ability in languages relevant to the position
Understanding of software design, testing, debugging and version control
